A joint EY India-FICCI report has recommended reducing GST on hotel room tariffs above INR 7,500 from 18 per cent to 9 per cent to improve India’s global price competitiveness. Released at GITB 2026 in Jaipur, the report says tourism contributes INR 21 trillion to GDP and supports over 46 million jobs, while calling for structural reforms to accelerate inbound growth.
