India and Nepal have launched a peer-to-peer cross-border remittance mechanism linking India’s Unified Payments Interface (UPI) with Nepal’s National Payments Interface (NPI). The integration enables real-time money transfers between the two countries through mobile banking applications and digital wallets, strengthening financial inclusion, digital connectivity and economic cooperation while improving payment convenience for travellers, businesses and individuals.
